What’s up with 2012 and Astrological Ages?
Many people fear the future. I see many choices ahead, and we have the option to live into our potential, rather than confirm our fears.
The current buzz concerning prophecy and what is supposed to happen in the future surrounds the Mayan Long Count calendar and this year 2012. Whether or not we believe in this date, there is not a lot of actual evidence in support for this as a valid end of the world time. There are changes that many point to in support of this date, but whether they signal 2012 as the end-time is anyone’s guess. On the other hand, I see western astrology having a long and hidden tradition that reveals an end-time that has far more data to support a paradigm shift that corresponds to what we call the end of the world or the end of this time cycle.
While the Mayan Long Count calendar is supposedly based on the precession of the equinox, a 26,000 year cycle, it gives almost no historical data to support its end-time contention. Our Western astrological zodiac on the other hand, gives us huge amounts of historical data, with an added division of the precessional cycle into twelve astrological ages. Each astrological sign is said to rule various qualities, and these qualities are reflected in history. For example, the Age of Cancer is dated from 8640 to 6480 BCE. Cancer rules agriculture among other things, and it was precisely during this age that the Neolithic Revolution, from 9000 to 6000 BCE, invented agriculture and changed the world.
Dating at this level of history can be quite sloppy and still be accurate. The beginning of an age could be off by a couple of centuries and history would still accurately reflect the nature of the age. Where this does show up is in the smaller divisions of each age. Within each age there are twelve eras that describe the direction and evolution of history on a smaller scale. Each era is only 180 years long, and this can help refine our dating. The Aquarius Era of the Age of Pisces, from 1800 to 1980, supported the science of the Industrial Revolution and the revolutionary science of the Twentieth Century. Aquarius rules science and genius. These are two powerful examples of the accuracy of ages and eras to describe history. But there is yet another smaller division of eras into twelve phases, each 15 years long, that helps us to refine our dating even more. Click here to explore these ages in more depth.
This is where our ages connect with the Mayan calendar date of 2012. Within this circle of ages, eras, and phases there is a religiously important end-time cycle that reveals powerful information regarding the times that we live in right now. We may actually be in an apocalyptic paradigm shift. History, mythology, and prophecy point to the possibility that the sign Pisces and the opposite sign Virgo act as trigger times for the cyclical culmination of prophetic end-times or paradigm shifts. Pisces rules dissolution, and Virgo rules disintegration and extinction with the two acting in tandem. The Virgo energy is active in conjunction with the primary Age of Pisces energy. Because we are now in the Pisces Era of the Age of Pisces, from 1980 going to 2160, we are in a doubly strong bath of potential dissolution and disintegration. Pisces also rules the fulfillment of prophecy. If the prophecy of the Apocalypse is to be fulfilled, it will likely happen during this Era. Already climate change and huge increases in earthquake and volcano activity over the last 40 years have presented us with a deteriorating environment and a possible doom and gloom prophetic future. But all is not lost. There is also a huge potential for something great to happen during this time. Because Pisces rules dreams, illusion and spiritual truth, we have the ability to imagine and dream a different more loving timeline for ourselves. Pisces is a plastic time that is open to our dreams and imagination. The Apocalypse was a prophetic warning that does not have to be a part of our personal future.
Pisces rules contact with other worlds, with its spiritual quality also implying higher, heavenly realms as well as physical worlds. It also rules devotion and the spiritual expression of love. The spiritual teachings from all religions tell us that love, compassion and forgiveness are the preferred pathways through the potential destructive prophecy of Apocalypse and Armageddon. By embracing love and forgiveness in everything, we align with a future that is more loving and prosperous, free from the harsh prophecies that sit before us. As we manifest our dreams, we have the ability to choose our own future.
